COAL TOWNSHIP — Shamokin Area High School took all the marbles, winning big with $145,287 in week 10 of the stock market game. None of its challengers posed a serious threat to its dominance in the last several weeks.

In middle school action, Our Lady of Lourdes took off running as it got near the finish line and left Shamokin Area in the dust to take the win at $123,795.

This year’s Pennsylvania Council on Financial Literacy competition offers players in grades three through 12 the opportunity to manage a hypothetical $100,000 portfolio by investing in stocks chosen from the American, New York and NASDAQ markets. The competition, which began Feb. 5 and ended April 13, teaches students about investing and encourages financial literacy through hands-on activities in the classroom.

Sunbury Motor Co. and The News-Item are sponsoring the event for local schools again this year.

Below are top teams for this week, along with top rankings from the previous weeks.
