“We purchased the land next to our facility on Stemmons and are currently evaluating what we can do with it,” Children’s Health spokesperson Virginia Hoc said. “We have no immediate plans for expansion.”
Children’s Medical Center is also looking at some of the vacant former Parkland Hospital buildings, which are next door to its main building on Medical Center Drive near Harry Hines Boulevard.
The almost 40-acre former Parkland complex is up for sale and includes more than a dozen buildings, parking garages and raw land.
“We are always evaluating property,” Hock said, repeating that there were no specific plans.
The old Parkland campus was set to sale earlier this year for more than $83 million when developers working on a redevelopment plan for the property missed a deadline.
Dreien Opportunities LLC was not able to close its financing for the Parkland purchase and the hospital district and Dallas County which are selling the property would not extend the contract.
Commercial property firm is now marketing the buildings for sale again.
Dreien Opportunities’ CEO Sam Ware has said he’s going to make another bid for the property.
Potential buyers have looked at acquiring all or just parts of the Parkland campus which is across the street from the new $1.3 billion Parkland Hospital across the street.
